Consider Going Back To The Traditional Rocking Horse As Gift For A Child

Rocking horses still rock. This traditional gift has sustained popularity for hundreds of years literally, despite the light flashing and noise blurting games of today. Historically the rocking horse has sustained the test of time. Consider how often you see pictures of it in old photographs with children. Additionally, well kept horses have become family keepsakes, passed down from generation to generation

Consumers must consider a variety of details when purchasing a rocking horse, starting with the child for whom they are buying. The size of the child matters first as far as safety on the horse is concerned. Consider a toy of suitable height and width. Buying a horse too big or too small would result in just a pitiful sight.

Can you imagine the three year old opening and then trying to ride the horse built for a six year old? The child should be able to mount the horse with ease. Toy companies can help a consumer determine which horse to purchase by suggesting suitable ages for products. Also, a consumer can compare the height of the seat from the floor to the inseam of the child. Consumers should also consider how and if the horse can grow with the child. Will the child continue to ride it for the next couple of years, or will he abandon it within the first few months?Consider the kid when you buy the horse.

The consumer should also consider where the horse will go once he's gotten it home. Rocking horses might seemingly take up little space, but once a child begins putting that toy into action, it grows in size. Consumers should carefully consider which room has enough space to accommodate the wooden horse. He should find a place where the horse will not collide with other toys and yet a place where he can quickly stow the horse in a spot to put it away. The careful parent will want to keep the horse far away from the stairs and from yielding areas like throw rugs that will make the horse unstable.

Rocking horses literally come in all shapes and sizes. The standard wooden horse might not be the best bet considering both the child receiving the rocking horse and the space where the consumer will put the horse. Wooden rocking horses, plush rocking horses, rocking vehicles and even rocking animals fill shelves in toy stores and pages on Internet toy sites. The doting grandparent might want to select a toy that complements the child's room or that piques the child's interest, like a race car for a fast moving toddler. The consumer should also consider if more than one child in the family will use the toy, and thus acquiesce to a more neutral horse, like the traditional rocking horse. Finally, the consumer will want to consider if he'd like the toy to become a family keepsake or even a toy, which will decorate the home.

It's that time of year again and all good parents are about to go out looking for all the hot Christmas toys for their kids. It can sometimes be overwhelming. What are the hot Christmas toys? Where do I even begin to look? Thanks to the internet, the search has become a lot easier. Just go to Google and type in "hot Christmas toys." How simple is that?

Google will even give you list of suggestions as you type. One of the choices that pops up will be hot Christmas toys 2009. Click it! Now you will be taken to a list of web pages showing you just about every toy that is selling well or expected to sell well. Now your saying, "Great information! You just showed me how to do a search on Google. Like I haven't already done that a million times. I don't need to know how to do that."

Bear with me.

First go to another lesser know Google site called Google Trends. It's [http://www.google.com/trends]http://www.google.com/trends. Now type in "hot Christmas toys." You will be presented with a graph that shows Google's search volume for those key words. Notice that search for hot Christmas toys spikes at the end of every year. This means the search volume for those words are really increasing.

Notice the spikes each year are very similar. There are hardly any searches for hot Christmas toys until around August then the search drastically starts to rise and peaks around the end of November. After November the search drastically plummets until there is no more searching right at the end of December. My guess would be around December 25.

So what are your chances of getting a hot Christmas toy? That depends on where you are on the graph. If the graph is just starting to rise then you are in good shape. If the graph looks like it is about at its peak (compare it to the last years graph) then you chances are slim to none.

Now try the same thing with an actual item. For example last year Spike the Dinosaur was a really hot Christmas toy. If you do a search on Google trends for Spike the Dinosaur you will notice last year it spiked really high and if you look at this year it looks like it is starting to spike again.

At the time of this writing Spike's spike is just beginning. So if you are looking for Spike the Dinosaur, now is the time to buy before they run out, before the spike gets bigger. Try this in your search. If you see a spike starting it is probably going to be a hot item. How high the spike is currently growing will show you the demand.
